It’s About Living, Stupid!

By Neil Cavuto

I know I’m the money guy here at FOX News, but I don’t think this election year will come down to money issues. No, it’s not about the economy, stupid. I think it’s about living, stupid.

I think it’s about staying safe first, then maybe thinking about getting rich later. After all, it’s hard to well, when you’re dead!

It’s about priorities.

Do you think any of the parents of all those kids killed at the hands of Chechen (search) terrorists in that Russian school are counting their rubles now? Or the families of victims of those two plane crashes in the same country at the hands of the same Chechen terrorists are thinking much about their jobs?

No, it’s hard to delight in your riches, when those you want to share them with are dead.

Just try to talk about the economy to any of the 18 families in Israel (search) who lost sons and daughters and mothers and fathers in those twin bus bombings there and see how far you’d get.

And try telling the families of those 12 Nepalese (search) construction workers brutally executed — including one beheaded — that terror doesn’t strike those who refuse to mess with terrorists.

Terrorists don’t care who you are, or where you come from, with whom you’re aligned, or not aligned.

Terrorists have killed rich and poor, those who represent countries fighting terrorists and many more who want nothing to do with terrorists.

It doesn’t matter. Neutrality doesn’t protect them. Wealth doesn’t save them.

They are all targets. We are all targets.

It’s hard to think about making money when you’re burying a son or a daughter, a mom or a dad.

No, saying “it’s the economy, stupid” is like shouting to the world that you really are stupid.

I’m happy more of the jobless are finding jobs. I’d just be a lot happier if more of the terrorists were losing theirs.

We Are Not Alone!

Sometimes words are not necessary.

An injured schoolgirl who escaped from a seized Russian school holds a cross in her hand in a hospital in Beslan, North Ossetia, Russia, Sept. 3, 2004. A three-day standoff at the school turned into a gunfight between Russian commandos and Chechen militants holding hundreds of hostages. An official said the death toll could be far more than 150.

This could be my son.

Democrats Can’t Add

Kerry and crew have been complaining about all the jobs that have been lost during the Bush administration. So, I decided to do a little research. The Bureau Of Labor Statistics maintains a very nice database of figures concerning the American workforce. Check out this chart…

If you notice the Jan. 2001 figure you’ll see 137,790,000 people employed. Now jump over to Aug. 2004. Here we have 139,681,000 employed. Now I’m not a rocket scientist…but the number is LARGER. Indicating to me that MORE people are employed now than were in 2001. If you jump back into Clinton’s regime (back to Jan. 2000), you’ll see that there is a net gain of 3.12 million employed people.

Am I missing something here?
